Terms of Use

1. Licence and Apple's EULA

The Budket app is licensed to you, not sold. Your licence is subject to the Apple Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement (the "Standard EULA"), available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. The licence to the Budket app is granted by Budket, and Budket reserves every right in the app not expressly granted to you under these terms or the Standard EULA.

Where these terms and the Standard EULA conflict, the Standard EULA governs the licence itself.

2. Acceptance

By downloading or using the app you accept these terms and the Standard EULA. If you do not accept them, do not use the app. Our Privacy Policy explains what happens to your data and forms part of the arrangement between us.

3. Eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Budket, and old enough under the law of your country to enter into this agreement. Accounts are created with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google; there is no email-and-password option. You are responsible for keeping access to that provider account secure, because whoever controls it controls your Budket data.

One person, one account. Do not share an account with someone whose spending you do not want to see, and do not use another person's sign-in.

4. Budket Pro subscriptions

Buckets, budgets, manual transactions, statistics and your history are free to use. Budket Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that adds cloud backup, AI receipt and document scanning, a monthly allowance of 100 scans, and in-app support.

• Billing. Plans are offered monthly or yearly and are billed to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy and may differ by country.
• Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before that period ends. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period.
• Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your Apple subscription settings (iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal; the period you have already paid for runs to its end. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
• Free trials and offers. Where a trial or introductory offer is available, any unused part of it is forfeited if you buy a subscription during the trial, as Apple's rules require.
• Refunds. Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple under its own policy. We cannot issue them ourselves, but tell us if something went wrong and we will help you ask.
• Scan allowance. The 100-scan allowance is monthly on every plan and resets each month. Unused scans do not carry over. We may adjust the allowance for future periods, and will say so in the app before it takes effect.

5. Accuracy of AI scanning

Receipt and document scanning uses optical character recognition and machine learning to read an image. It is a time-saver and it is not infallible: faded print, crumpled paper, unusual layouts and foreign formats all produce mistakes. We do not warrant that a scan is accurate or complete.

You are responsible for reviewing what a scan produces before you save it. The app shows you the extracted fields for exactly that reason.

6. Not financial advice

Budket records and organises figures you give it. Nothing in the app is financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice, and it is not a substitute for professional advice or for your own records. Do not rely on it for a tax return or any other filing.

7. Acceptable use

Use the app lawfully. In particular, do not:

• break any applicable law or regulation, or use Budket to record or facilitate unlawful activity;
• attempt to access another user's data, or to bypass the limits on scanning or the paywall;
• reverse-engineer, decompile or tamper with the app except where the law expressly permits it;
• probe, overload or disrupt our infrastructure, or use automated means to submit scans at volume;
• upload content you have no right to upload, or anything unlawful or abusive — including through support messages.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep Budket working, but we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. Features may be added, changed or withdrawn as the app develops, and parts of it depend on services we do not control. If we withdraw something a Pro subscription was substantially bought for, we will say so in the app.

9. Intellectual property

The app, this website, the Budket name, the bucket logo and wordmark, and the design and code behind them belong to Budket and its licensors, and are protected by copyright and trade mark law. Your content — your buckets, your transactions, your receipts — remains yours, and we claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the permission needed to store and process it so the app can work, as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Termination

You can stop at any time: delete your account with Settings → Data & Privacy → Delete Account & Data, and cancel any subscription through Apple. We may suspend or end access to an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law; where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you why first.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, the app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, and without any warranty that the figures it produces are accurate. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so parts of this section may not apply to you; nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Budket and its directors, employees, contractors and suppliers are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profit, data, goodwill or expected savings, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the app — including any decision you make on the basis of a figure the app produced.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

13. Third-party services

Budket relies on services we do not operate: Apple and Google for sign-in, Apple for payments, RevenueCat for subscription entitlements, Supabase for hosting and the database, and Microsoft Azure Document Intelligence for reading scans. Their own terms apply to their part of the work, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions. The Privacy Policy sets out what each one receives.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed, and continuing to use Budket after a change means you accept the updated terms. If a change materially reduces what you get, we will say so in the app rather than leave you to find it here.
